Acquire website

Thanks for visiting the Acquire website.

Acquire  is a mixed-voice community choir based in Rhuddlan, North Wales.

Acquire was founded in July 2010 as a community choir, performing music in all styles from gospel to doowop to musical theatre to more traditional choral arrangements. In 2014 we also began an ongoing relationship with Mike Peters from The Alarm and have performed on his two recent albums.

We are a mixed voice choir for men and women 16 years of age and older.  New members are ALWAYS WELCOME to come and visit! There are no auditions to join although Leslie and Huw may wish to hear you sing so they can allocate you to the appropriate section for your voice. Come along to a rehearsal for a ‘taster session’ to see whether you’re interested in joining. If you think you would like to join, let us know and we’ll add you to the waiting list.

As you will see from our Repertoire, we sing a little bit of everything: musical theatre, gospel, pop, jazz, big band, a capella and more…   there is definitely something for everyone!  There are opportunities to audition for solos in various songs, and we also hold periodic auditions for members of Acquire to sing in our small jazz choir.

It doesn’t matter whether you can read music or have sung in a group before – all you need to  bring to rehearsal is a positive attitude and a pencil! (A bottle of water is also a good idea… as well as a sense of adventure!)

We rehearse at Neuadd Capel Ebeneser Hall on Parliament Street, Rhuddlan, LL18 5AL. There’s a car park across the road from the hall, which is free when we rehearse on Sunday evenings from 6.30pm- 8.30pm. This gives us plenty of time to sing, have fun, and still have time to get home at a decent hour to relax before the start of a new week. PLEASE DO NOT USE THE COMMUNITY HALL CAR PARK – thank you. If there are no spaces left in the pay and display car park across the road, please legally park on the road somewhere.

The Jazz Choir rehearses immediately following Acquire, at 8:30pm – 9.30pm. (Yes, this still leaves us time to go to The King’s Head for some social time and have a chat before heading home!)

First and foremost we are a community choir. However, we have managed to help raise funds for a number of causes close to our hearts including St Kentigern’s Hospice, Tenovus, Macmillan, Marie Curie Cancer Care, By Your Side, RNLI and others.

The choir is available for public or private performances – contact us for further details. (Always subject to the availability of a balance of voices). Please try to give us as much notice as possible.
